Aligning the Self & Match System to IEPs

Another benefit of the Self & Match System is that it is a data-based system that allows teachers to easily monitor progress and make data-based decisions regarding the behavioral intervention program.  Because of this, it can be used as a progress monitoring tool and data collection resource for special educators as they prepare updates for student’s IEPs. This workshop focuses on the collection of baseline data and development of IEP goals that align with the Self & Match System.  Since Self & Match is a manual-based intervention, we do not recommend writing The Self & Match System directly into an IEP goal, accommodation or service.  However, there are ways to include The Self & Match System within a student’s IEP such as writing goals surrounding a students skills with self-monitoring his/her behavior and/or goals regarding increasing behavior success in the school setting.

Objectives:  At the conclusion of this workshop, participants should be able to:

  • Identify ways to collect baseline data for self-monitoring goals
  • Identify ways to report progress by utilizing the data collected on completed Self & Match System forms
  • Identify ways to write IEP goals that align to behaviors targeted while implementing the Self & Match System
  • Identify ways to make data-based decisions regarding next steps of the Self & Match System Implementation
  • Identify ways to graphically display data related to The Self & Match System (graphing is only available for 2 hour sessions)
